We have heard thousands of questions, and chosen to provide you with the answers to some of the more common questions relating to a funeral. The answer may be simple, but the question is complex. Question – How do I go about making a funeral arrangements ?

Answer – A Lesedi House Funeral arrangement officer will assist you in our offices or at your home.

Question – How will Lesedi House Funeral Help me ?

Answer- Simply phone your nearest Lesedi House Funeral branch and ask them to advise you. The staff knows their way round all the necessary paperwork and procedures. They will arrange to collect the deceased and then the funeral is arranged in the usual manner.
Questions – How soon can a funeral be held?

Answer – It is sometimes said that the sooner the funeral is held is less expensive and life will return sooner to some normality. But taking time to consider your options and ensuring that suitable decisions are taken, can actually help in the healing process; a few days interval before the actual funeral can be helpful as there is a lot to do.
Question – What about the Death Certificate ?

Answer – Lesedi House will make sure all the necessary documentation is swiftly attended to. The death will be registered and Death Certificate together with claim papers will be given to the family.
Question – What do I do when someone dies of natural causes at home or in hospital ?

Answer – You will phone the ambulance or paramedics to come and certifier death at home, and the body will then be taken by your funeral parlour. The hospital will call you to come with your undertaker.
Question – What happens when someone dies in a motor car accident or by suicide or murder ?

Answer – These are called an unnatural death and the police take custody of the deceased and a post mortem is done.
Question – What documentation do I need to do a claim?

Answer – Certified copy of death – Certified copy of deceased identification book – Certified copy of claimant identification book – All 4 copies of BI1663 – Any other paper that the underwriter will need – Copy of claimant bank statement to transfer claim funds

Question – How long do you wait for claim to pay out?
Answer – It takes full two working days, and different banks delays.

Question – How long is policy waiting period?
Answer – The waiting period for natural death is full six months from inception date. Unnatural death has no waiting period as long as the person is fully registered and premium are up to date, while suicide has 24 months waiting period.

Question – Who are the underwriter ?


Answer – The underwriter is the registered company taking the risk of a policy. Are the one who pays or repudiate a claim.

Question – How do they repudiate a claim?

Answer – The underwriter will write a letter stating the reason or reasons why the claim should not be considered. They will also clearly explain what recourse do the claimant have if not happy .
